My brother and I - 2 years old

Pete the Cat talks about colors through a song. Pete steps in a variety of things that change the color of his shoes.

My favorite part of the book is the ending...the author writes; "No matter what you step in just keep walking along and singing your song cuz it's all good!" This is a great motto for children to start learning because life is constantly changing.

"The more you believe in children the more they will believe in themselves"

Children are like adults - they need reassurance they are doing the right thing!

  1. Nice picture. I love the book that you chose. It is a wonderful story and I am sure the kids love it as well for the songs. Your quote is also very true. It is nice even as adults to have some positive reinforcement.

    Great Job Chrissy!

  2. Chrissy,
Your chosen quote applies so well even to adults who sometimes get hung up on some small hiccups along their way and miss out on opportunities to look beyond and laugh at the situation. I think children are sometimes better than us in learning to move on from an upsetting situation. They demonstrate the resilience during the most unexpected moments and we as teachers should help them practice it even at times that it doesn't come naturally to them or us!

  3. I had never read this book until about two weeks ago when our Mandarin Chinese teacher used in it her lesson to teach the children color words in Chinese. I even found my self singing the catchy tune "I love my red shoes, I love my red shoes." The kiddos really loved it and I loved the fact that it taught resilience in a language that the children really understood.
